LabCycle

Revolutionising the recycling of laboratory plastic waste in research and healthcare sectors

LabCycle is the first company on the market to create a circular economy for single-use plastic waste from Safety Level 1 & 2 labs and healthcare settings.

About Us

Did you know?
Research has some unintended consequences.

More than 5.5 million tonnes of plastic waste is generated annually by the world’s bioscience and clinical labs – equivalent to the weight of 27,500 blue whales, the largest creatures on the planet. These sectors accounts for 1.4% of total global plastic waste according to data from 2021, despite researchers and healthcare workers representing only a small fraction of the world’s population. The scale of this waste becomes even more alarming when including other research disciplines. The incineration of these plastics releases significant amounts of CO2 and harmful emissions, further exacerbating the impact on climate change.

Even worse,

this waste is not being recycled!

Due to a lack of specialised recycling service and scalable technology, these plastics are sent to landfills in special bags or are incinerated. This linear economy has imposed environmental burdens on the land and the atmospheric system.

It is time for action,

so LabCycle was born!

With growing regulations, taxes, and funding mandates, research institutes, private companies, and healthcare sectors are feeling the pressure to adapt. Meanwhile, many in the research and healthcare community are calling for change, fed up with wasteful practices that clash with their commitment to progress. LabCycle is here to help ease this burden and work together toward a sustainable solution.

What do we offer?

Services

At LabCycle, we believe research should drive solutions to humanity’s challenges, not contribute to them. As pioneers in the field, we are the first company to offer bespoke recycling services tailored for different sectors.

Our innovative technology allows us to safely recycle single-use plastic waste, including materials classified as hazardous or contaminated, from research and healthcare settings.

By integrating decontamination processes into our recycling solutions, we ensure a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible approach towards a circular economy.

Products

LabCycle transforms decontaminated lab plastics into high-quality recycled feedstock, retaining their quality and versatility for a wide range of applications. By diverting waste from landfills and incineration, we ensure that scientific progress aligns with environmental responsibility.

Through our closed-loop approach, these recycled materials are crafted into lab consumables, establishing the first high-grade recycled plastic supply chain for research and healthcare. LabCycle empowers industries to innovate sustainably while fostering a greener, circular future.

Our Mission

Aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, we are on a mission to build the infrastructure for truly sustainable research. Our commitment is to empower the research and healthcare sectors to transition seamlessly toward a Net Zero future—together, we can drive meaningful change for our planet and generations to come.

“Their recycling process of lab waste plastics holds the promise to resolve many global challenges, such as zero waste, circular economy, and net zero emissions. LabCycle’s process can solve this significant global challenge by keeping carbon within the value chains.”
